Chittaranjan Park

Description:

  • Chittaranjan Park, also known as CR Park, named after the freedom-fighter Chittaranjan Das, is a prominent locality in south Delhi, which borders Greater Kailash II. Migrants from East Pakistan settled here in the 1960s and the area evolved into a hub of Bengali culture. CR Park is sometimes referred to as mini-Calcutta, owing to the overwhelming Bengali presence here. Notable authors, politicians, entrepreneurs and artists (all Bengalis) reside here. CR Park is also home to one of the most extravagant Durga Puja celebrations of Delhi. The very famous Kali Mandir and the Chittaranjan Bhawan are major tourist attractions of the area.
