Coronation Darbar

Description:

  • This site is rich in British Raj nostalgia. It is situated in the north of Old Delhi, and is easily accessible by public transport. An obelisk marks the site where the darbars (royal meetings) were held in the early nineteenth century. And this was the place where King George V was declared Emperor of the country in 1911. The most striking feature of the place is the 50 feet high statue of the king. It was shifted here from Rajpath after 1947.
