Description:

  • The Hathi (elephant) Gate was built by emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar for his father Akbar II. This tall and graceful gate is the entrance to the king's summer palace, Zafar Mahal. It is made of magnificent red sandstone with curved Bengal roof, finely carved windows, and marble inlay. Unfortunately, the palace inside has been converted into houses and has, therefore, lost its grandeur.
