Description:

  • This is a site you'll only see in India. Where else will you witness the entire population of a city go nuts by throwing colour on each other. Holi is one of the most awaited national festivals, and is celebrated with extraordinary passion. Whole day is spent smearing colored powder on each other - even if you are stranger on the road, you wouldn't be spared. There is dancing, drinking and visits to relatives and friends. There is also a tradition in North India of consuming bhang (a derivative of cannabis) on Holi. Hot snacks and milk-based drinks, both laced with bhang are consumed with abandon in many households and community gatherings. The festivities tire most people by lunchtime and is often followed by some serious gambling.
