Description:

  • Named after the gurudwara (temple of Sikhs) built to honor the visit of Guru Nanak (Sikh guru) in the 15th century, Majnu Ka Tila is now more known as the residential area of the Tibetans in exile - those who fled from Chinese oppression and came with the Dalai Lama. The settlement was built here next to the Yamuna river - with its quaint Buddhist temples and monastaries, it seems as if you have stepped in a Tibetan hill town. The area is particularly popular with the Delhi youth because of its inexpensive but excellant Tibetan dhabas (restaurants).
