Quwwatul Masjid

Description:

  • Quwwatul Masjid which literally means 'Might of Islam', was built by Qutb-ud-din Aibak, founder of the Sultanate dynasty to boast of the Muslims' victory over Qila Rai Pithora. It is one of the oldest mosques built in Delhi. The architecture of the mosque is primarily Hindu, as it is built with the relics of 27 Hindu and Jain temples. As a result, the pillars of the mosque have Hindu motifs carved on them which make it unique.
