  • Old Delhi, or Shahjahanabad was founded by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, known for his taste of architectural grandeur. Shahjahanabad Gardens, a group of gardens built by folks of the Emperor, served as a favored summer destination for him. The gardens are located in North Delhi, an area adorned with majestic structures built by the great ruler. Some of the notable gardens in Shahjahanabad include, Begum Ka Bagh (in honor of Shah Jahan's mother Begum Samro, Roshanara Gardens (houses the tomb of his daughter Roshanara), Tees Hazari Garden (gifted to his daughter Jahanara, by Shah Jahan) and Qudsia Garden (laid by and Qudsai Begum, wife of Mohammad Shah, one of the biggest gardens). Walk through these gardens for a leisurely stroll and glimpse into interesting pieces of history.
