Urs Of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia

Description:

  • This annual festival marks the death anniversary and is in honor of the Sufi saint, Hazarat Nizamuddin Aulia. The Sufis believe that after passing away from the world, the saints have married God, thus the name 'Urs'. The celebrations go on all night; this is a unique festival and the place is visited by not just muslims but people of all other faiths as well. 'Qawwalis'- a form of Sufi music - is the highlight of the festival and the event is usually held in November or December every year.
