Description:

  • Located in the south of Delhi, the Zafar Mahal is the last known remnant of the glorious Mughal Dynasty that ruled Northern India. Its last emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar used the Zafar palace as his summer retreat. Originally built by Akbar Shah II, the palace and its formidable gates were reconstructed by Bahadur Shah Zafar who intended it be his final resting place. However, the palace lies unfulfilled till date as Bahadur Shah Zafar was deported by the British to Rangoon where he met an inglorious end. This marked the end of the magnificent age, the tragedy of which still lies within this palace's walls.
