Hi, welcom to Delhi....

Low cost accommodation is available in Paharganj and Karol Bagh areas and most backpackers stay there.. You can visit Red Fort, Walk around the old city and reach the Jama Masjid and then proceed to India Gate and British Delhi then on to Qutab Minar, Humanyun's Tomb, Khirki Mosque, Akshardham Temple and so much more to visit. Depends on your interests. Delhi now has a reasonable system of Metro which is very comfortable and safe and also inexpensive. For areas not covered by Metro,I suppose you will have to take local busses (not comfortable) or Auto rickshaws (Tuktuk).

All kinds of food and eating places can be found in Delhi. There is a very wide choice of restaurants from very cheap to very high end and expensive ones and everything in between. But I would strongly recommend Karim's near jama Masjid if you wish to taste the authentic Delhi food and be safe. Yet Another one is Al Kausar in R K Puram, next to Swami Malai Mandir... these are not to be missed places and reasonably priced too.

Hope you have a great time in Delhi.

Already you've got the low-cost options for the Backpackers in New Delhi which mostly all Foreign Tourist already know about it or get informed before reaching Delhi.

If you're alone then you can also go for the following Youth Hostels in New Delhi but which will not be low-cost but of medium-budget & centrally located : -

YWCA International Guest House
Connaught Place, New Delhii
Ph.: 011-23360133‎

Category: Lodging
Public Transit: Patel Chowk Metro Station (0.2 km.) Delhi Metro:Yellow Line

Check-out the following for all the details from Rooms / Charges / Location etc.

The best way to use Public Transit is to use Delhi Metro & in the areas where its not available use the Bus network which is efficient but very crowded during peak hours of the day.

Hope you are a guide approved by the ministry of tourism Shivank... othrwise, guiding a tourist around monuments is illegal...so,please be careful....you might end up in custody....... Loots etc. happen everywhere in the world.. and tourists are always advised to be carefull on that..
