- A French country home tucked in a wooded sanctuary overlooking a quiet lake. Journey up the long, winding drive and feel the essence of peace and tranquility surround you. Normandy House was designed and built on the historic Normandy Plantation by Louis Chenel of Normandy, France. Normandy House features split-beamed ceilings, antique wine bottles imbedded in chimneys, a large country kitchen, a formal dining room with a fireplace, and five bedrooms with private baths. Our premiere suite is the Chalet Indien named for a 1930's resort hotel Louis Chenel built in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. The room is 650 sq.ft. with a 20 foot split-beamed ceiling. Cozy armchairs and couch flank a woodburning fireplace. Exquiste hand-hammered copper trees shelter a king size bed. Come enjoy our 54 acre nature preserve with its abundant wildlife. From the spacious flagstone terrace enjoy dark starlit skies and fireflies by night. By day canoe, fish, bike, bird watch, and hike nature trails. Visit the French Quarter and escape to the countryside that reminded Louis Chenel of his native France. Get lost in the country and find yourself at Normandy House.
