Description:
A somewhat different take on lodging from the same folks who bring you the Prytania Park Hotel , this was a one-family home for 130 years. The owners had to pass muster with the mayor, the governor, and the park service when they renovated it, and the result is perhaps the grandest building for a B&B in town. Furnishings are a bit sterile, however -- hotel-room furniture masquerading as antique (though mattresses are top-of-the-line). The Queen Anne is not our first choice for decor, but the stately rooms (each of which has some exquisite detail like beautifully tiled nonworking fireplaces or 10- to 14-ft. ceilings) pull it off. The tiniest room has quite a large bathroom, while the three attic rooms are too conventional to be worth your while. The inn is nicely located near the Mardi Gras parade route. Internet is available across the street at the Prytania Oaks cafe.

Great location, beautiful rooms. But the attentiveness of staff to solve issues (seriously appalling breakfast and too bright lamps on the balcony, for example) needs to be improved....
