Bywater
East of the busy French Quarter and Marigny neighborhoods is the historic, mainly residential Bywater area. Friendly neighbors sit out on the stoops of their pink and yellow shot-gun houses, and Mr. Okra drives down the narrow streets, selling fresh produce from the bed of his hand-painted pick-up truck. Cozy, casual bars and eateries are scattered throughout the Bywater, including the popular Bywater Bar-B-Que. On Sundays the wine bar Bacchanal hires chefs from local restaurants to cook food outside in their lush, tropical courtyard, and every third Saturday the Bywater Art Market sets up in Markey Park, selling art, crafts, and food. © NileGuide
