Old Algiers
From the French Quarter, take the Ferry across the Mississippi and you'll find yourself in Old Algiers, the second oldest neighborhood in New Orleans. This quaint area feels like a different city, and in fact, in the 19th century it was a separate town from New Orleans. Today people enjoy walking the quiet streets of Old Algiers, which are lined with historic homes and churches as well as cute diners and shops. Along the river is the Jazz Walk of Fame, and close by is Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World, a warehouse where artists work on floats for the upcoming Mardi Gras parades. © NileGuide
