Owned and operated by Jay and Jacki Witlen, longtime local favorite Jay's is an intimate eatery with a creative menu centered on innovative game dishes. Served at the inviting bar or one of several small dining areas decorated in earth tones and blond woods, the menu is interesting to read, from appetizers to dessert, and even better to taste. Try the smoked buffalo carpaccio or a half-dozen fresh oysters to start, before moving on to one of the expertly prepared and presented entrees. The seafood and game, especially the Colorado-raised ostrich filet, deer loin, and lobster ravioli (served in a savory tomato-cognac sauce), are the best choices, but the diverse menu includes pasta and vegetarian dishes, poultry, and beef. There is live jazz Wednesday to Saturday, and the crowd is more mature than most restaurants in town. Lunch is served weekdays until 2pm, and an abbreviated menu is served for 2 more hours.
