2339 Royal St, New Orleans, LA, United States
On a quiet corner of Royal Street in the Marigny is the hip and friendly coffee house, the Orange Couch. In the evenings neighbors lounge on the comfy couches (including a big orange one, of course,) discussing books and politics, while students sit at small wooden tables, sipping giant lattes and typing on their lap tops. On Monday and Thursday nights, the Orange Couch turns into a music venue for jazz groups and innovative DJs. The decor is clean and simple with retro furniture and bright abstract art. Framed photographs of post-Katrina New Orleans line the walls, and unique lighting fixtures gives the Orange Couch a funky vibe. In addition to the regular fare of coffee, tea, and pastries, the Orange Couch also offers a wide variety of ice cream. Try the deliciously different mochi, bite-sized balls of ice cream covered in chewy, sweet rice. They are imported fresh daily from Hawaii and come in flavors like blueberry, mango, green tea, and tiramisu.
