Touro Synagogue - New Orleans

  • Description:

    • Touro Synagogue was formed with the merger of two existing Jewish congregations of New Orleans: the German Jewish Shangarai Chasset and the Sephardic Portuguese Jewish Nefutzot Yehudah in 1828. Touro is now a reform synagogue and plays an active role in the local community, especially with its annual Jazzfest Shabbat which coincides with the New Orleans Jazz Festival. The synagogue has Shabbat worship at 6p on Fridays and 10:30a on Saturdays.
