• New York's designated "event spaces" tend to be useless to anyone not interested in spending long evenings supporting the arts, orphans, the fight against disease, or dentists. Opening to those who can barely support themselves, Hudson Terrace. A lavish, three story boozing fort with a roofdeck overlooking the Hudson, HT's an incongruously ritzy offering from the guys behind Village Pourhouse, who for a year went the events-only route before realizing they'd make bank by opening it to unaffiliated drunks too. Imbibing starts in the 2nd floor ballroom, which despite wooden ceiling beams (naturally) reclaimed from a 19th-century Navy hospital ship, still looks achingly modern with a huge white marble bar and beaded, LED chandeliers casting future-posh light; upstairs, the rooftop rocks multiple cabanas for lounging, a retractable tent for rain, and a heated floor, killing your gentlemanly chilly-evening move, "Want to borrow my jacket and have sex in it?". To moderately stuff your belly, there're small plates of Asian-influenced grub, wash-downable with summer-friendly drinks including six bottled beers (Heineken, Sol, Sapporo, etc), fruit-infused sakes, and carafes and pitchers of capirinhas and margaritas, plus four flavors of mojitos and sangrias, from triple berry red, to peach mango white, to some that don't risk lawsuits from Bubblicious. In true Pourhouse fashion, every day sees sweet 5-7pm drink specials, including 2-for-1 Sauza margaritas/mojitos/sangria, 2-for-1 Absolut and Level V cocktails, and 2-for-1 Jim Beam Black & Coke -- drink enough, and the sugary libations'll ensure you're still supporting those dentists.
