Its un-New York name aside, the London is the quintessential midtown Manhattan hotel. It features a sleek, airy look starting in the lobby, high-ceilinged and bright with white marble; attended by black-coated, derby-wearing porters. Off the lobby is the blue-gray leather-wrapped London Bar, and the hotel's restaurant, Gordon Ramsay at The London, helmed by its eponymous chef. The rooms are spacious, with big windows providing spectacular views -- the hotel, with 54 floors, is one of the New York's tallest. Electronic amenities include flatscreen LCD televisions, iHome MP3 docking stations, and wireless Internet (for a daily charge). The addition of oak-parquet floors gives the hotel's cool feel more of a rustic homey touch. The white-tiled bathrooms have been designed by the bathroom purveyor Waterworks and feature their amenities. The hotel's suites include two televisions, a separate parlor, some with French doors, and bathrooms with two shower heads.
