- Montparnasse, a Parisian-styled bistro decorated in the look of a bygone era, is a lovely escape from Midtown. No doubt a Francophile's dream, the front bar area is good for a light bite and a drink; the more formal dining area is in the back. Weekends tend to get crowded. The service is mixed. Lunch, dinner and brunch menus of French delights, such as steak frites, ratatouille and escargot, are all available. The wine selection is extensive and pricey. Montparnasse is good for a date or an intimate chat, but probably not for a family.
