Description:

  • Her music or his love - what's more dangerous? Come find out at Broadway's hottest new show, Memphis! This thrilling new performance combines the history of rock music with a fascinating Broadway twist. Co-written by Bon Jovi member David Bryan and based on a true events, Memphis touches upon the subjects of love, race and controversy.

Turn up that dial!  From the underground clubs of Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, to the La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre, comes this sizzling new Broadway musical with heart, soul and energy to burn.

Set in the turbulent south in the 1950's, Memphis is the story of Huey Calhoun, a white radio DJ whose love of good music transcends race lines and airwaves. He falls in love with a beautiful black singer named Felicia Farrell, whose career is on the rise, but cannot leave segregated clubs. Thanks in part to his passionate persistence, "race" music reaches the center of the radio dial, quickly exploding throughout mainstream America.

When the two collaborate, her soulful music reaches radio audiences everywhere, and the Golden Era of early rock 'n' roll takes flight. But as things start to heat up, whether the world is really ready for their music - or their love - is put to the test.
