    • It is in the East Village. That was once part of the Lower East Side. It's new nomenclature arose when the beat poets sought their lodgings in the 1950s in this vicinity. The main street is St. Marks Place, which in itself is a performance place: watch, as people pass you by, what they wear. PS 122, itself, is an old public school. It is now a peformance space. Small shows are tried out there, have several performances with attractions changing continuously. Check out "Time Out."
