Description:
- Tracing its roots back to the year 1887, New York's Verdi Square Park has always had profound musical connections through the decades. The beginnings were laid when the city's Italian immigrants decided to erect a life-like statue of their beloved composer Guiseppe Verdi. Plush nearby hotels played home to international composers like Igor Stravinsky & George Irshwin who used to stroll through this park often. By the 1960's it fell into disrepair and became the unfortunate hub of shady activities however, citizens goaded the authorities into refurbishing the square again. By 2004, the park was reconstructed and plays host to a number of festivals.
