    Our Local Expert Says:

Each floor at the St. Regis has its own butler, creating a new level of New York City hotel opulence.

    Description:

Housed in a Beaux-Arts landmark building on Fifth Avenue, the St. Regis provides a luxurious home-away-from-home in the heart of New York's high-end shopping mecca. It's also just a few blocks away from Central Park, Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, the Museum of Modern Art and other top destinations. In the lushy appointed guest rooms (ranging from single rooms with king beds or suites with a king and two double beds and a separate living area), technology is a main draw, with bedside consoles that control lighting, climate and audio systems and massive flat-screen TVs that rise from the foot of the bed. The St. Regis also houses Adour, the newest restaurant from star French chef Alain Ducasse.

    Our Local Expert Says:

For a five-star dining experience, splurge at the L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, the fourth of the star chef's ateliers to open around the world. Dining at the high-concept restaurant is built around the Japanese traditions of small-plate, omakase (chef’s choice) tastings and dining at the bar.

    Description:

This 364-room luxury modern hotel designed by I.M. Pei was established in 1993. No expense was spared to create a prestigious property that is right at home in this high-profile location. The exquisite rooms, marble baths, luxurious beds and other amenities are expressions of elegance. If you want a room with a nice view (at a price), ask for one in the tower. The onsite restaurant Fifty Seven Fifty Seven has good food, and it is a great spot for people watching. Visit the Spa at Four Seasons Hotel for some relaxation.

The 7,000-square-foot health club at the Palace boasts fantastic views of St. Patrick's Cathedral, as do many of the rooms.

    Description:

Housed in a 55-story tower atop the 19th century Villard House, the New York Palace is an opulent combination of traditional and modern. Standard rooms are available in the hotel's main section, but the real luxury is found in the tower rooms, which feature more space and spectacular views of St. Patrick's Cathedral. The Palace also boasts a gorgeous courtyard with 15th Italian-style motifs, and the magnificent lobby in the Villard mansion houses the New American restaurant Gilt, which gets two stars from the Michelin Guide.

The Peninsula, rated Best Overall Business Hotel in New York by Forbes magazine, provides top-notch service for its professional travelers, including a business center with secretarial services and language translation as well as the standard fax, copy machine and Internet access.

    Description:

Housed in a beauty of a landmark Beaux Arts building, the Peninsula is the perfect combination of old-world charm and modern, state-of-the-art technology. Rooms are huge with plenty of closet and storage space, but best of all is the bedside control panel that allows you to regulate lighting, television, stereo, air-conditioning, and the DO NOT DISTURB sign on your door. Even though you really don't have to leave the comfort of your bed, eventually you will need to go to the bathroom, and when you do, you'll not be disappointed. The huge marble bathrooms all have soaking tubs with yet another control panel at your fingertips, including the controls for, in most rooms, a television so you can watch while taking your bubble bath (now that's happy excess). The Peninsula also features one of the best and biggest New York hotel health clubs and spas, the rooftop Pen-Top Bar, and a faultless concierge desk.
