    • From New York City, you can take the train that will drop you off right at the bottom of this Ridge. Make sure to bring food and water. Do NOT go if it rained or prediction of rain as the rocks get really slippery when wet! Also try to avoid doing this hike when it is very hot - there isn't much shade for most of the way up and the sun beats it hard. Avoid snow season. Spring and fall are the best times to go. Right off Route 9, just north of Cold Springs, this hike is a gem. Within just a few minutes, glorious views of the mighty Hudson River and the Storm King mountain across the river glance back at you with beauty. You should get a map as there are a few ways to get back and you don't want to turn a 5 mile hike into 12 or more.
