The Best of NileGuide
- You will be spoiled for choice when it comes to accommodation in Nice - it is geared to all budgets and tastes. The seafront is a popular choice for most tourists. Hotels in this area include the award winning hotel Beau Rivage, and hotel Radison (both Frommer's Recommended 2010), and the famous hotel Negresco (Frommer's Very Highly Recommended 2010). The Negresco is considered to be one of the Riveria's most glamorous (and expensive) hotels and is decked out in antiques, tapestries and historical artwork dating from the renaissance to present day. The more expensive rooms have a sea view and have their own private beach. The hotel is situated on the famous seaside walkway the Promenade des Anglais. However, if you're on more of a budget Nice has its fair share of hostels. Hostel Paradis is just a minute walk away from the beach, very near the old town. Another option in old town is Hostel Smith - it is located next to Place Rossetty, and the Promenade des Anglais. For traveling convenience Hostel Baccaret is situated just opposite Nice's train station. Most customers are young students and backpackers. During high season (April to October) there are cooking facilities available too which will save you money on food. There are several budget options further into the hills about 15 minutes away from Nice but don't forget to factor in hidden bus and taxi costs. Or why not consider renting an apartment for a week. It is a great way to give you a bit more independence and get under the skin of the place. A bit of time and internet research may end up saving you money. Wherever you choose to stay in Nice try and haggle on the price, especially in low season (November to March) where hotels are sometimes willing to reduce their rates.
