Oleta River Fishing Site - North Miami

  • Description:

    • At the southern tip of the peninsula along Biscayne Bay, lies a large fishing pier, swimming area, picnic area, playground, bathhouses, and a concession that rents canoes and kayaks, and sells a variety of tackle, gear, cold drinks, snacks, and more. Many anglers choose to launch a paddleboat from the cartop launch located in the northwest corner of the huge parking area. The estuary supports sheepshead, mangrove snapper, and redfish, snook and pompano. A 3.8 mile canoe trail into the Oleta River expands fishing opportunities.

Other park amenities include mountain bike trails and racing competitions, primitive cabins, youth camping, and large picnicking facilities. Directions: Travel east along State Route 826 for one mile to reach the park entrance. Travel the main park road to the huge parking area. The fishing pier / swimming area is located at the southern tip of the peninsula.
