Description:
- Hans Sachs, who was actually a cobbler, is one of the city's most well-loved historical figures. He wrote more than 400 songs, 400 tragedies and left behind as many as 2000 quotes. Konrad Kraußers statue (1874), which stands in the middle of this square shows the poet sitting down, surrounded by books. His house which was once a tourist attraction burnt down during the war but his words are kept alive by the Hans-Sachs Players who perform at regular intervals.
