- Getting There: Proceed mauka on Tantalus Drive. Approximately half way to the top, look for the trail head sign on the right hand side of the road. Prior to the Makiki Valley Trail head sign, there is small parking area on the corner. You may park here. Makiki Trail is part of the Honolulu Mauka Trail System. The trail descends into Makiki Valley and contours for approximately 1.1 miles to reach Round Top Drive on the east side. Vegetation along the trail includes swamp mahagony, eucalyptus, and some native Hawaiian plants. This trail connects with Kanealole and Maunalaha Trail, forming a popular loop hike. This trail also intersects other trails including Nahuina, Ualakaa and Moleka Trails.
