    • The Paramount is one of the most revered Theatres in the Bar Area. Built by architect, Timothy Pfleuger in 1932 it is classic art deco created to Pfleuger's specific designs blending Egyptian, Polynesian sensibilities with an homage to the California landscape and redwood trees. The Paramount is the home of the Oakland East Bay Symphony but also presents other concerts and offers classic movies opened with the beautiful Mighty Werlitzer Organ on Friday night. It's located right off the 19th St. BART station and is the anchor of the upcoming Uptown Area of Downtown Oakland featuring exciting new restaurants and nightclubs.
