Description:

  • The phrase "home-style cooking" is bandied about a lot, but in this case, it really means something. For the traveler, it means a meal just like one you'd get in a Mexican home. The house is 5 1/2 blocks south of the zócalo, in the untouristy working-class part of the city. Look for a small sign saying only RESTAURANT. Upon entering, you will find some tables in a garden patio. There is also a dining room. The comida corrida includes bread, an appetizer, vegetable or pasta soup, rice, a main course (often a mole), and dessert. Beer and other beverages are extra. In high season, they often open for breakfast.
