Description:

  • What started out as a shopping district in 1929, gradually evolved to become a haven for black jazz musicians, students and small businesses in the 1950's. The end of  World War 2 brought with it the hippie culture which determined the flavor of The Paseo. But it was only in the 70's that it became one of the country's finest  art districts. Hosting food, art and music festivals all year around, this place has still preserved its old town Spanish feel with narrow streets and clay roof houses.
