Description:

  • Remote and serene, O'Neill Regional Park breaks the typical perception of Orange County. On the 3,358-acre land, there are oak-lined canyons, grassy meadows, meandering creeks, and rolling hills. At 1,000 feet above sea level, the view is breathtaking. Across the south county, Catalina Island stands on the horizon. The north and east side of the park are surrounded by the mountains, and a part of it is Cleveland National Forest. No neighborhood could practically exist here, but a few extravagant homes are tucked in the mountains like modern-day castles. Hiking, horseback riding and camping are popular in the park. Every Saturday at 9a, a hiking group starts at the Nature Center, and Sierra Club hikes here regularly. Anyone is welcome to join them. -Hoiyin Ip
