Apopka/Winter Garden: Orlando

Fun Apopka fact: Apopka's mayor, John Land, has served for more than 50 years, making him the longest serving mayor in the country. Largely an agricultural community, Apopka still retains many of the small-town charms of the south. Apopka's Kelly Park is a local favorite owing to its miles of downward flowing springs ideal for floating along in an inner tube - which you can rent on-site. A new amphitheater to be located at the Northwest Recreation Complex off Jason Dwelley Parkway and Ponkan Road was completed recently. The outdoor venue has seating for 1,500.

Winter Garden is a charming town with a goal to become "the best little city in the United States." With an active Saturday farmer's market, a quaint downtown shopping and dining district and a handful of historical museums, it's well on its way to achieving its goal.
