The University of Central Florida is one of the fastest growing institutions in the country and, naturally, a college-based community has developed and thrived around it. But East Orlando is more than just UCF's home turf; it's also home to Central Florida's Research Park, one of the most prominent technological complexes in the U.S. Recently, UCF Arena has come on the scene to rival entertainment complexes like the Amway Arena with hugely popular concerts by the internally sought-after performers.

East Orlando families flock to Waterford Lakes on weekends where a huge number of national chain stores and restaurants cram into miles of retail space along Alafaya Trail. There's also a massive movie theater as well as a huge bowling and nightlife entertainment complex called the Firkin and Kegler Family Entertainment Center.
