Description:
- The Scene
The Ale House is one of the state's mini-chains. All share the same basic menu, decor and commitment to tasty, far-from-fancy food. The decor is reminiscent of a sports bar, with bench-like seats and thick wooden tables. TVs are hung throughout, although the noise level remains tolerable.
The Food
Start off with the deep-fried conch fritters, a taste of Key West. The Ale House Combo--a platter of potato skins, conch fritters, fried mushrooms, mozzarella sticks and sauces--feeds a crowd. The chicken nachos are a rather bland mountain of chips under a lava slide of cheese. The baby back ribs are generously portioned, fall-off-the-bone tender and smothered in a tangy sauce. Another good bet for dinner is the blackened prime-rib sandwich. The burgers are big and juicy. The brownie hot fudge sundae is the star of the small dessert menu.
