Description:
- Water recreation reigns at Sebastian Inlet State Recreation Area. Known as one of the best fishing and surfing areas along the east coast, this 800-acre park is open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. The park entertains millions of visitors each year. A full-service campground, two fishing jetties, marina, two museums, huge picnic area, and multiple restroom and bathhouse facilities enhance the parcel.
Fishing can be done either from the jetties, which reach out into the Atlantic or from Sebastian Inlet, Indian River Lagoon, or Indian River Aquatic Reserve, all accessible within moments of each other. Don't expect a lot of shade at this park. Sea grape, gumbo-limbo, and cabbage palm compete against man's desire to pave the earth.
Visitors to Sebastian Inlet State Recreation Area will find plenty to keep busy. Recreations include surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, surf fishing, sunbathing, swimming, hiking, launching a boat, canoeing, and camping. Nature programs and two museums tell about the area's lush history and rich wildlife.
Sebastian Inlet State Park is located off Highway A1A, between Melbourne and Vero Beach.
