Black Thorn (The)

Description:

• This converted 19th-century brick house draws crowds to its fenced-in sidewalk terrace, a covered terrace in back with a courtyard fountain, and a small main dining room centered around an impressive mahogany bar. Hard to believe this used to be the workshop of a carriage maker, but it was. Today the kitchen turns out moderately creative food that includes healthy pizzas from a wood-burning oven (including versions with pepper, onion, pesto, or chicken toppings); tangerine-glazed chicken; salmon wrapped in pancetta; a grilled tenderloin with gorgonzola butter; and seafood linguini. There are a number of vegetarian dishes to choose from, as well, and a prix-fixe menu.
