Popular almost as soon as it opened, the tables in front, the striped half-moon banquettes in the rear, and the courtyard out back are fully occupied nightly at Social. New Brunswick native chef Stephen Mitton's philosophy is to incorporate elements from across the breadth of his wide country. Antipasto platters are fun, followed up by chargrilled Alberta steaks or lamb, B.C. halibut, and the like. A solid selection of reasonably priced wines is available by glass or bottle, including a number of Canadian selections, and given the youngish crowd it's also not surprising to find a DJ spinning subdued house and hip-hop at the black marble bar, nor jazz duets and trios playing during the week.
