Canadian Tribute to Human Rights

Canadian Tribute to Human Rights - Ottawa

  • Description:

    • Unveiled by the Dalai Lama in 1990, this monument to human rights leaves a strong impression with both its message and design. The red granite and grey concrete of the ten-meter-high monument carries the words "equality," "dignity" and "rights" in 68 of Canada's First Nations languages. Walk through the tribute along a "symbolic procession," starting under the massive plaque inscribed with the first words of the Declaration of Human Rights: "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights."
