Gatineau Park

Gatineau Park - Ottawa
  • Type: Picnics, Parks & Gardens
  • NileGuide Expert tip:

While in Gatineau Park, it is well worth the trip to McKenzie King Estates, historic summer home of former Canadian Primer Minister William Lyon McKenzie King, who dominated Canadian politics from the 1920s to the 1940s.

  • Description:

    • This stunning 361-acre park and nature reserve is a mere 15 minutes away from Parliament Hill in Ottawa. It is a fine example of Canada's stunning great outdoors and is a great destination for families, hikers or cyclists to enjoy the beautifully maintained trails. A spectacular view can be had from Champlain Lookout. Pinks Lake is a unique, ecologically sensitive body of water that has a boardwalk. There is year-round camping available in the center of the park and in the summer time, visitors can go swimming in the lakes scattered throughout the park. Gatineau Park is particularly popular in the fall, when the autumn leaves create an incredible visual display. There is abundant skiing (both cross-country and downhill) and snowboarding in the winter time.
