Please tell me about tours of Ottawa that are English only. My partner starts tuning out when the language changes and then doesn't really tune back in when the English resumes. I'm interested in history, geology, and architecture.

I am not certain of where you would find any tours on geology in Ottawa, but Parliament Hill is certainly a good place to start for history. Tours run in either English or French, but only one language at a time. Many of the museums will also offer tours in either language. It is when you get to a tour of buildings, places and such outdoors that your tour may include a mix of languages. Be patient as most places will have a tour running every half hour in english or french with the next tour being in the other language. I hope that helps.
