    • This is a really interesting place to visit. If you like ancient or modern history then there is enough here to stimulate the whole families mind. It is only in 1996 that this stopped being Her Majesty's Prison and the cells, records and displays are fascinating. A grim reminder of recent and Victorian past. Older than that is the oldest building in Oxford - the tower and crypt. The mound which provides excellent views of the city of dreaming spires dates from just after 1066. Well worth spending a couple of hours here.
