    • This is the most famous and arguably highest quality hotel in Oxford. Central - located a stones throw from the Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archeology - it's opposite - and all the colleges and city centre. A few years back the put in a spa in the basement. Here they have treatment rooms, steam rooms, sauna and jacuzzi, ice fountain and sensation shower. I have never used it but I am sure it is the highest quality and does' exactly what it says on the tin'. However, I think this is a misuse of the word 'Spa' which the leisure and hotel industry has taken - not here in Oxford but almost everywhere to mean a more general facility that has been manufactured. The spas I like are the natural ones where the water comes from the ground and there are really special treatments etc. We are short of these in the UK - Bath and maybe Buxton but really Germany is the centre for many of these fantastic facilities.
