The visitors who book at Roggeland -- another gracious Cape Dutch homestead in the Klein Drakenstein Valley -- are a who's who of traveling writers and foodies, all of whom rave about this 300-year-old estate. World-famous chef Robert Carrier called it an inspiration, Travel + Leisure described it as one of the world's 20 best hotels, and the New York Times named it the preferred choice of hotels in the Winelands. Furnishings are more fusty than at Palmiet (food is the main reason to come here), but rooms are spacious and comfortable, the location is tranquil, and the service is discreet and efficient.
