Welcome to the Martine Inn, built in 1890 as a lavish private residence. Today it's a meticulously renovated resort where every fixture and furnishing is an authentic Victorian-era antique and each room, many with fireplaces, claw foot tub, and/or views of the waves crashing against the rocks has it's own unique décor. Morning brings breakfast on silver, crystal and lace, while evening presents wine and hot hors d'oeuvres, antipasto and fruit. Wi-Fi is available throughout and a computer with high-speed connection is in the library. Bathrobes, fresh roses, phone, clock radio, hair dryer and refrigerator adorn each room. All this immediately adjacent to 17 miles of coastal hiking and biking trails and only 3 blocks to the spectacular Monterey Bay Aquarium.

As far as B&B's go, the Martine Inn is just so-so, middle of the pack and not a particularly great value. Furnishings are nothing particular. The breakfasts were a big disappointment....
