- This easy 1-mile loop trail runs along a ridge above the fire station offering interpretive points of interest. It features gradual switchbacks as it winds through manzanita, yucca, chamise, sage, and other high desert plants. Birds are abundant here, in the cliffs watch for white-throated swifts, hawks, and ravens. The trail also offers a good view of the San Bernardino and San Gabriel Mountains as well as the Mormon Rocks, which are cemented deposits of sandstone for which the trail is named.
Mormon Rocks Nature Trail is oftentimes combined with the Cajon Pass Scenic Drive. After enjoying the nature trail continue your drive along Lone Pine Road, following the San Andres Fault.
