"Hola! I was born in Panama City (Panama) and have visited Costa Rica. Panama uses the dollar which will save you time on converting currency. Most young people are bilingual. We have atlantic and pacific beaches. December is very festive month for our culture and it's the beginning of summer :) Most things are affordable. I suggest maybe splitting your time between the city and Colón Island or Boquete. Both locations can be reached by bus from the city. You can also fly to Colon Island through Air Panama. In Colon Island, you get a taste of the caribbean in Panama. You can ride bikes, go on tours to other islands, surf and discover wildlife. I recommend a romantic B&B such as Island Plantation or The Firefly. The main island Bocas has lots of restaurants, bars and a few shops. There's a large international expat community. !"  See More

"Hola, I am from Panama City and spend some time in Bocas del Toro. In Panama City (Panama) there are lots to do and see. It's a cosmopolitan city full of flavor. Use Uber to go from place to place. !"  See More

"I will start with Casco Viejo in Panama where I am from."  See More

"I do recommend using Uber in Panama. Regular taxis will hike up the fare to foreigners from the USA, Canada and Europe...unfair but they think you are rich if from those areas. :"  See More

"Casco Viejo is an artsy neighborhood which has a french influence so the architecture is lovely."  See More

"We both really loved wandering around Casco Viejo-they have small craft markets through-out, so its a great place for purchases to bring home."  See More

"Lets start with the unique Panama Canal Locks, the Casco Viejo that features many architectural styles from the Spanish colonial buildings."  See More

"Also, I would say the downtown, modern part of Panama city is safe to walk around, much safer than Casco Viejo, in fact."  See More

"I will also add a walk by Casco Viejo as it is the historic area of Panama City."  See More

"However, we are headed to Panama City (Panama) in a few weeks and I've been surprised at how cosmopolitan the city appears, yet still has the Casco Viejo area with authentic feel."  See More

"Visit Casco Viejo and the Panama Canal"  See More
