  • The Best of NileGuide
  • At night the City of Light becomes the city of music, theater, and dancing. Concerts, theater, and other performances are continuous and widely varied across the city. There are postings put up around town, and information available online and at ticketing agencies. Many theaters offer same-day discounted pricing, particularly for students. The best thing about Paris music is that it holds onto its historical background, but also embraced new and innovative artists. Paris concerts consist of everything from the latest Parisian rap sensation to ancient church choir music that has been sung through the ages. Churches, huge concert halls, and the local pub all play host to music performances at different times throughout the week.

One of the most uniquely Parisian experiences is the live music cafe, where a cozy cafe opens its doors at night to a traditional band playing with accordions and all. Grab a glass of wine and just try not to sway to the music. Not surprisingly, many of the exciting evening activities in Paris are rich with culture and refinement. The centuries-old Paris opera was commissioned by Louis XIV, and the Opera House itself is worth a visit. Designed by Garnier in the 1800s, this is one of the city's most impressive examples of Neo-Baroque architecture. The Paris Opera Ballet is also housed located in the Palais Garnier, and is also world-renowned.

Or, if you're looking to get out and dance, there are a couple of neighborhoods that are home to a number of nightclubs and bars. Bastille is one of the most trendy spots to see and be seen, and there are plenty of excellent restaurants around here as well if you want to make a night of it. There are also some more unique spectacles, such as the improvisational circus-like performances and shows that take place behind Notre Dame and along the Seine after dark.
