- The avant-garde is not dead at the Théâtre de la Bastille, a dark little theater featuring dance and drama in a lively, hip district, a stone's throw from the opera house of the same name. The place used to be a cinema before the 1970s. The atmosphere is young and informal, the shows experimental. Note that the Theâtre Bastille has nothing to do with the Opéra Bastille.
